Meet FIN Tastic Allstar Gracelyn

Hello, my name is Gracelyn, and I am a shark explorer myself! Ever since I was 4 years old I have been fascinated with sharks since then I have been a fish in the ocean!

Thanks to Gracelyn for sharing her shark story with us!!!

1. What is your favorite shark and why?

I would have to say my favorite shark is the Great Hammerhead, they are like models on a runway, they are so beautiful and after waiting to see them, when they come back around its so awesome!

2. What is one shark you would love to dive with/see?

I have never dived with Tiger sharks, YET! My Dad tells me that they are really cool, and when he says something is cool he means it! And the best part is they look like a tiger!

3. You recently got to dive with great hammerhead sharks, can you tell us what that was like?

Diving with Hammerheads was THRILLING, you were always looking for them, like trying to find Waldo , but one you see them they are so big you can’t take your eyes of them!

4. What was the coolest part about diving with sharks?

The coolness of saying that I have swam with a whale shark before and a 12-foot hammerhead, honestly makes me so happy, Scuba diving is a door that opens into a whole bunch of opportunities, like getting Master Scuba certifications and meeting new people, experiencing things that a lot of kids would not have the balls to experience, it really is a life changing thing to do!

5. What is your favorite thing about scuba diving?

My favorite thing about scuba diving is when I see the beautiful things around me, like the fish, the coral, the things that I don’t even know what they are! Its so fascinating to spot them in the sand or coming through the blue ocean, like when the shark arrives to the spot where the boat is. But not going to lie another big thing for me is the new people I meet, its so awesome to here where other people are from, I meet people from all over the world and have cool conversations with them! If I could teach kids to dive I would! But I am a kid myself (13 turning 14 in a month!)

6. Would you recommend other kids learn how to dive? Why?

I urge any kid or adult that is on the edge about learning how to scuba dive or not, DO IT! It will be the best choice you ever made!
