South Florida is a beautiful and very unique place to dive with sharks. Millions of people come from all over the world to see the beautiful diversity of the waters of South Florida. Florida waters are home to multiple species of sharks, including popular species such as Tiger Sharks, Lemon Sharks, Bull Sharks, Hammerheads, and Reef Sharks. The waters are also an incredible migratory path for many sharks such as Silkies and Blacktips that come in groups seasonally. On rare occasions, we even get Makos and Great White Sharks that use the waters as a shark highway.
Florida's weather is relatively warm year-round, so as a diver, I can dive frequently and experience how different seasons affect shark behavior, hunting, mating, and how each shark's personality shines. Diving in the same spots throughout the years can allow a diver to experience multiple species in their natural habitat. The waters of South Florida are also reasonably close to the Bahamas, so it’s always nice to see larger sharks such as adult Tiger and Hammerhead Sharks, migrating back and forth. The waters between Florida and Bahamas are abundant with beautiful marine life, benefiting sharks and many other species that call the ocean their home.Â
Every dive is special in its own way. I love being on a boat with first time divers. Seeing their face light up when they see their first shark in its habitat thriving. Seeing humans and sharks coexisting is so magical to watch. If you’re ever in South Florida, go for a shark dive, let the magic of these animals change your life!
