1. What is your favorite shark, and why?
My favorite shark is Sphyrna mokarran or the Great Hammerhead. They are such incredible animals, a shark species that specialize and selectively target eating other sharks and rays. And they are so goofy looking!

2. What is one species of shark you would like to dive with?
I have had the chance to dive with a lot of sharks, but my current top species I want to dive with is a mako shark!
3. Why do you want to teach students about sharks?
I truly believe that to love or respect something requires understanding it. By sharking my knowledge of sharks and why sharks are cool and important, I am able to help various students reach a respect for these diverse and incredible animals.Â
4. Can you tell us a little about your experience with sharks ( diving, research..etc)Â
I have been scuba diving and free diving with sharks since I was 10 years old. I began working at the National Aquarium in Baltimore in highschool, sharing my knowledge and passion with visitors. In college, I was part of a research lab looking at the hydrodynamics of various hammerhead species. Now, my research heavily focuses on shark behavior and biology, specifically what factors are driving juvenile shark behavior in a multi-species shark nursery. I have had the opportunity to work with and tag multiple different species of sharks including juveniles and fully mature adults through my research.Â

5. What is one thing you wish everyone knew about sharks?
One thing I wish everyone knew about sharks is that most sharks don't fit into the stereotypical shark mold. Some sharks can fit in the palm of your hand, while others are omnivores!
6. What is the most incredible moment you have had with sharks?
The most incredible moment I had with a shark was when I was freediving in Bimini and was able to spend over an hour in the water with a beautiful female Great Hammerhead. It was awe-inspiring!
