Meet Artist Kyle Cody ( Creecha Kids)
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Kyle is an award winning visual effects artist, living in New York City with his wife Jolene and their two 2 creature loving kids. His inspiration for his work comes from his daughter's passion for animal non-fiction, and the many (many!) hours he spends with her reading and studying her favorite animals.
We are really excited to be collaborating with Creecha Kids to create new educational resources.

1. What is your favorite shark and why?
My favorite shark is the Great Hammerhead!
Their hammer shape gives them so much character but also cool advantages as a predator. (Like 360 degree vision, they can use it to pin prey down, and it also gives them a wider area to sense electrical fields)
Purchase Kyle's Great Hammerhead Print and SUPPORT our work!
2. What is one shark you would love to see/swim with?
Without a doubt I’d love to swim with whale sharks. They are such gentle giants!
3. Why did you start creating shark artwork/infographics?
I wanted to create shark art and infographics because I believe the more children know about the world’s creatures, plants and ecosystems, the more they will protect them for future generations. It’s important for us to spread awareness about all creatures, endangered or not, as the world’s ecosystems hang in a delicate balance.
4. In your opinion, is art important for conservation and why?
Art is important for conservation because it engages with kids. I have two young children and I love seeing their eyes light up when I show them one of my new illustrations. If a piece of creature art is engaging, then children are more likely to want to see more, learn more and hopefully make more of a difference in the world.
5. What message do you hope people take away from your work?
The message I’d like people to take from my work is that the world's creatures are amazing, unique and worth saving. Conservation is so important to me and I really want people to desire to make a difference.
6. What is your favorite shark fact?
My favorite shark fact is that they are the most electrically sensitive creatures on Earth! They can detect the faint electrical fields produced by living things, which they use to find prey hidden or buried on the seafloor! Also, that the Greenland shark can live to around 250 years, and may live to up to 500 years!!
